This May, we are proud to unveil a new temporary exhibition titled Sunken Series, featuring an original art installation by Jenna Zydlo. Running through the summer, Sunken Series will showcase Zydlo’s evocative ceramic works, which are shaped and textured to resemble artifacts recovered from the depths of the sea. The installation draws inspiration from a hypothetical 17th–18th century Spanish shipwreck, with each piece reflecting both human history and nature’s transformative power. In the artist’s own words:
“Throughout my life, I have been driven by a deep curiosity about the world and a sense of adventure. My passion for history fuels my interest and respect for past cultures, their stories, and the enduring legacies they’ve left behind. Inspired by the passage of time, past objects, and my goal of becoming an archaeologist, my work seeks to uncover and reveal the beauty hidden in lost objects. Sunken is inspired by a hypothetical 17th–18th century Spanish shipwreck site. The ceramics, formed and textured to resemble encrusted relics, embody the human imprint on the world and the ocean’s ability to reclaim and reshape.”
We invite you to experience this immersive exploration of memory, material, and time. Stay tuned for the official announcement of the exhibition opening date, we look forward to welcoming you to Sunken Series soon.
