Join Us for an Evening with Artist Jenna Zydlo and Her Sunken Series!
You’re invited to a special evening reception celebrating Sunken Series, an evocative new exhibit by ceramic artist Jenna Zydlo. The event will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2025, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Destination Archaeology Resource Center (207 East Main Street, Downtown Pensacola). This free public event will include complimentary light refreshments.
Running throughout the summer, Sunken Series showcases Zydlo’s striking ceramic works inspired by a fictional 17th–18th century Spanish shipwreck. Each piece is shaped and textured to resemble artifacts lost to the sea—weathered, encrusted, and transformed by time and nature. Through these imagined relics, Zydlo explores the intersection of human history, material culture, and the ocean’s enduring influence.
“Throughout my life, I have been driven by a deep curiosity about the world and a sense of adventure. My passion for history fuels my interest and respect for past cultures, their stories, and the enduring legacies they’ve left behind…Sunken is inspired by a hypothetical 17th–18th century Spanish shipwreck site. The ceramics, formed and textured to resemble encrusted relics, embody the human imprint on the world and the ocean’s ability to reclaim and reshape.”
